Simpler Recycling comes into force for businesses from 31 March 2025
- 4-stream segregation of materials requirement for collection at premises
- Food, paper, dry mixed recyclables (DMR) and residual waste
- Separation of food and DMR from general waste applies to businesses and other non-household premises with 10 or more full-time employees
- Better segregation increases the quality and quantity of materials to be captured and recovered for reuse and recycling
- Default position for waste collections in England
Here are the materials you can expect to be recycled
- Plastics: Including bottles, pots, tubs, trays, and certain types of plastic films by 2027.
- Glass: All glass bottles and jars.
- Metals: Tins and cans
- Paper and Card: Including office paper and cardboard, except materials like glittery or laminated paper.
- Food Waste: All food intended for human or household pet consumption, alongside biodegradable waste
from food preparation.
